While summer is known for many staples, it’s especially known for its foods. Many will even equate the season with meal-related events like cookouts, grilling, etc. However, its fare can be challenging to eat when you’re missing teeth. That said, you might want to consider dental implants from your Huntington Beach dentist— they’d allow you to eat several summer foods again.

Listed below are three summery treats that implants can manage, as well as some tips for eating with the latter. Read them over to see if you should consider filling in your smile before your next barbeque.

Summer Foods That Implants Let You Eat (with Discretion)

Dental implants won’t slip or slide while you’re eating. They restore up to seventy-five percent of your original chewing capacity so that you can eat almost anything once fully healed. As long as you exercise caution, that includes the following summer products:

  • Corn on the cob: Implants would quickly let you eat corn on the cob during your summer picnic.Just remember to eat the kernels with a fork since corn kernels can get stuck between an implant and your gums.
  • Vegetables: Many vegetables taste great after being cooked on a grill. That includes some like squash, bell peppers, or even zucchini. The grilling will soften these veggies, making them easier on your implants.
  • Hot dogs: How can you have a cookout without something as iconic as hot dogs? Thankfully, implants would let you chew and swallow these well enough. Still, limit your hotdogs to keep their saturated fats from causing implant failure.

Tips for Eating with Dental Implants

Whether you’re having a summer special or something else, eat carefully with your implants to help them last. For instance, avoid hard foods that could crack your restorations like nuts, ice, or popcorn kernels. Furthermore, reduce your sugar intake to keep your gums and surrounding teeth from getting damaged or infected.

You’ll also need to give your implants proper care. At home, brush your teeth twice daily and floss once daily. Plus, remember to attend regular dental checkups.

Summer foods and drinks help mark fun events with our loved ones. Don’t miss out on the three mentioned above and talk to your dentist about implant treatment.
